How to Treat Your Mum this Mother's Day

How to Treat Your Mum this Mother's Day

With Mother’s Day coming closer, you are no doubt thinking of how to spoil your mum. While there is no shortage of ideas out there, we went looking for the best of the best. This is what we found.

Time Together

Mum may be independent and have her own busy social life. But every mother values time with her children, and Mother’s Day is one of those special occasions where she will want to spend it with her nearest and dearest. If you still live at home, or in the same town, this is easy to achieve. But for those of you who are far apart from your mothers geographically, this will require a lot more planning.

Despite the effort required, nothing will melt a mother’s heart more than you turning up on her doorstep early in the day with a plan for spending it together.

Shared Activities

Consider the hints your mum has dropped over the years of fun activities she never has the time or money to enjoy. This could be a spa day, a picnic in the countryside, or even spring-cleaning her home together. This is bound to bring up many shared memories that will have you chuckling and reminiscing.  You may even devise a plan to spend part of the day at her place going through family photo albums, helping with chores, scrapbooking, or baking, followed by a special tea at a great venue.

Some mothers prefer a day of rest and getting a break from the daily chores. If she loves reading, get her settled on her favourite chair with a new book while you tackle the cleaning. Check in often and provide plenty of snacks and drinks.

What is important is to think of how you can give mum the most perfect day possible.

Gifts for Mother’s Day

No matter how you decide to spend the day with mum, gifts are always welcomed on Mother’s Day. This is another chance to show how well you know your mother and if you have been paying attention to her cues. Gifts should always match the person and make her feel valued and understood.

Many mothers love being pampered and showered with hampers that include wine, chocolates, a journal, and some luxury skin or bath products. You can get ready-made hampers for Mothers Day or you can choose the individual items you know Mum will love.

The key is to personalise your hamper with a heartfelt card and goodies you know she will enjoy to show your appreciation for her being your mum.

The Meaning of Mother’s Day

The history of Mother’s Day is an interesting read. It provides some rather unexpected facts about the origins of this celebration. However, as we all know, Mother’s Day is that one day a year that we take to thank our mothers for all the sacrifices and hardships she has endured to give their children the best in life.

Whatever you decide to do, be sure to spoil mum this Mother’s Day.
