Here in the UK Father’s Day falls on Sunday 16th June – always the third Sunday in June. It’s a day to celebrate and show your appreciation for the dads, or acting Dads, in your life. We don’t know about you, but Dads can be tricky to gift - they’re either mega fussy, buy everything they want when they see it, or are just a tough audience.
That’s where Boxlocal comes in to help - we have an array of gifts which you can personalise for whoever you are choosing to gift. There’s something extra special about a gift that has been hand-picked by you, customised to your very own Dad – whether that’s a sweet treat selection like Choc on choc DAD chocolates, something more savoury with our best sellers The Cheddar Gorge Cheese Co. Cheese Straws, or a selection of our finest tipples, we have all bases covered – even a Bristol themed puzzle, for the puzzler in your life!
Who better to ask about their fave Father’s Day picks than the inimitable Mr Wyatt, Kate’s husband Jay, who can often be found lurking at Boxlocal HQ and is an all-round super chap and dad to Sam and Felix.
Mr Wyatt, Jay, is well versed in the Boxlocal products, occasionally helping with Chief Taster duties, so as well as being a special Dad in the Boxlocal family, he also knows his onions when it comes to what’s on offer. So here Jay answers a few questions to help you in your choices for Father’s Day.
Here Jay tells us what his top 5 items for a Father’s Day Hamper would be (nudge, nudge, wink wink Sam and Felix!)
Fudge, and more fudge please! It’s my ultimate favourite sweet treat. The Ooh Chocolata Sea Salt Caramel Fudge is just the ticket and one that I would be only too pleased to receive.
Bristol Beer Factory Clear Head 0.5% Alcohol Free IPA would be high on my list, not only does it taste great but it’s taste without the headache. The beer itself has a smooth creamy sweetness combine with sharp citrus, apple, and stone fruits to give it a delicious taste, but not only that, Bristol Beer Factory have collaborated with Talk Club, a talking and listening movement to help people get mentally fit and as a result 5% of total Clear Head sales go to Talk Club
Step and Stone Lavosh flatbread is a nice little snack that you can’t go wrong with on a Friday with a beer in hand. The Rosemary & Sea Salt lavosh is handcrafted and is an enterprise set up by two mums of children with Down Syndrome, they are working tirelessly to address the gap in employment opportunities for young people with learning disabilities and on top of that the products make use of the best local suppliers; oh and if that wasn’t enough the packaging is also very beautiful and definitely Father’s Day giftworthy!
Two Farmers Crisps - a very special pack of crisps. As well as being high on the taste front, they are gluten free, vegan friendly and the cherry on the cake is that the packaging is 100% compostable. Feel even better that the packaging is biodegradable.
Flavourhead Mad about Mint tea bags are the perfect way to end the day. New to the Boxlocal offering and rightly so, they are delicious offering a blend of peppermint, spearmint, eucalyptus, lime leaves, ginger, all spice, berry, cardamom, and lime peel, these are no normal mint tea!
And lastly, the Pullin’s Bakery Vegan Cranberry and Super Seeds Wholefood bar, is a great pick me up either to throw into my work bag or for a countryside walk. Made with oats, cranberries, apricot, and a mix of super seeds this bar is made with no refined sugar and is a great hit of fibre.
And lastly, we asked Jay for a top tip for Father’s Day gifting…aside from obviously gifting Boxlocal hampers, the gift of time is the most precious; sharing the day with those closest to you and sharing any treat you receive really is the best gift of all.
Choose from set Father’s Day hampers or curate your own via our build your own section, where you can choose a little, or a lot to add to your very own hamper. Make sure to let us know what note you’d like to put in the hamper too – we will hand write your note word for word, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to share why your dad is special.
