All About the Gin

All About the Gin

This week we turn our attention to all things GIN. Gin's popularity has surged over recent years and there are so many local distilleries on our doorstep to be explored and celebrated.

Through our socials this week we have shone a light on all of our lovely suppliers. Kate and I even got to grips with what a Copper Pot Still is! Boxlocal branded Gin coming soon maybe?! Read on to find out more about our local Gin Distillers and their collections.

We start with the brilliant Bristol Distilling Company. Tucked away in an industrial estate in Bedminster, their Distillery is a super cool hidden gem. They serve their signature G&T on tap and have recently partnered up with Chomp Grill, read about it here.

Their gin is something special. We currently stock the original Gin 77, Cold Brew Coffee and Vanilla Liqueur along with our newest offering - BDC's deliciously summery Dark Berry Gin 77. Bursts of rich ripe blackberry & blackcurrant make this gin a smooth and fruity tipple.

For Gin Week BDC created a gorgeous Summer cocktail for us especially. Head to our Instagram page to check out the recipe!

Our 6 O'clock Gin Cans are super popular here at Boxlocal. They really are the perfect addition to any gift box and can be enjoyed at home or on the go!

Our newest addition from the team at 6 O'clock Gin is their Mango, Ginger & Lime Gin & Tonic Can, created by celebrated chef Romy Gill MBE - a collaboration of Thornbury's finest. Read all about their partnership here.

To mark the celebration of Gin Week and also the launching of these new cans we gave our followers the chance to win a guided tour for two around 6 O’Clock Gin’s Distillery in Thornbury, North Bristol. The competition is still live and runs until midnight Saturday 22nd June. Go check it out!

Moving on to the effortlessly cool Psychopomp Microdistillery (not a name you’ll forget in a hurry) based on St Michael's Hill, Bristol.

Psychopomp’s spirits are simple, unpretentious and welcoming. Produced in their 30L copper pot stills using a 'single shot' method, Woden was their first gin, which we proudly stock alongside their tantalising Negroni - which mixes their Woden gin with Italian bitter apperitivo and Italian sweet vermouth. The perfect gift for those balmy summer nights (if we’re lucky!)

Last but not least we have the fabulous Shipshape and Bristol Fashion Gin run by the lovely Katie. Shipshape was born in Katie’s kitchen in Long Ashton in 2018, inspired by her love of all things maritime. Carefully sourced for quality and providence, ingredients such as wild honey from Flax Bourton and local botanicals grown in Somerset come together in perfect harmony to create unexpected loveliness.

Katie’s mini gins are perfect for gift boxes and are actually one of our bestsellers! Katie also recently launched a Limited Edition Gin with Bristol-born graffiti artist Inkie with Boxlocal being chosen as one of its exclusive stockists. Celebrating the love for local at its best!

If you are now craving a G&T, why not sample these lovely gins this weekend? Wonderfully paired with our Lovely and Bradley's mixers. Send a box full of goodies locally or across the UK with free delivery over £45!
